Adoption of potato varieties in West and Kellem Wollega Zones, Ethiopia

Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) is one of the possible food security crops which provide high yield and quality product in short period time. Due to lack clearly known best varieties it, its adoption farmers very less. The present study was conducted assess type potato prefer, released management practices west Kellem Wollega Zones, Ethiopia. Survey carried out Ayira, Yubdo, Hawa Gelan, Dale Wabara Sadi woreda where four kebeles were purposively selected based on farming potential. Open close ended interview questions generated for 384 representative farmers. Data analyzed by SPSS software. result showed that, 97.6% have willing farm potato. 47.3% 22.7% them experienced local (land race) varieties, respectively. Farmers use landrace due less awareness accessibility 70.1% responded there no area. Factors hindering area are disease least method used resistant Generally, scarcity seeds indicating that site. This problem enforcing may not resist above stated factors make face insecurity problems economic reduction.
